Surfers at Balmoral Beach?? Whaaaaa??!!!

I am regularly ridiculed by my colleagues who live at what they refer to as "real beaches" because Balmoral is a harbor beach and therefore never subject to anything more than gentle, lapping waves. Not today though! A crazy storm which has been raging all weekend so far turned our baby beach into a surf beach today. This is the first (and probably only) time I've seen surfers at Balmoral, and likely only because almost every other beach was closed due to lethal swells.
